Art Club

Throughout the year the club members enjoyed working with various art forms.  More craft tasks were introduced to the club this year to allow those students who are not fully inclined to rigorous drawing and painting programmes to enjoy the satisfaction of creating three dimensional objects.  Another group of students produced work targeted for the Visual Allied Arts and the Tavatose Sisonke art competitions.

To teach them the value of recycling paper, the students were engaged in various paper recycling activities. Waste paper was soaked in water to create papier-mâché. Simply repainting and cutting used paper resulted in amazing constructed craft objects.

Our major highlights came in term two. Whilst some of the students made vibrantly coloured snake hooks which could be used to hang their satchels in hostels, the major activity was to produce works targeted for the Visual Allied Arts and the Tavatose/Sisonke art competitions. Students were awarded certificates for participating for both competitions.

 In the Visual Allied Arts competitions outstanding performance was observed from Alana Musarurwa who was the Runner up in the form 4 category country wide. Panashe Beta, Nkisu Situmbeko, Charlene Simon obtained first grades. Their artworks were displayed for viewing by parents and other schools at Hartman House’s Jubilee hall.  The Tavatose/ Sisonke art work which was entered by students from form one to six was exhibited at the national gallery of Zimbabwe. In this competition Panashe Beta emerged as the provincial winner in the form three category. There was overwhelming support from parents who came to join us at both exhibitions on the 26^th of September 2018.

In the table below are the National Institute of Allied Arts- Visual Arts Awards. The first grade art works were exhibited at the exhibition at Hartman house in September 2016.
